I have been to many conferences in my career but physically attending BlackHat has always been on my career bucket list. Regardless of the crowd warnings and occasionally hearing feedback like, "it's not like what it use to be", this was the year I wanted to say, "been there, done that, got the t-shirt"...
For the past 9 months I have been working on a great project at work and in my free time. A friend and colleague push me to send some of my research to Black Hat for consideration. To say I wasn't intimidated would be an understatement, the BH Review Panel are an amazing group of well regarded individuals. When you look at the high calibre of past presenters it's easier to think negative. With his industry experience and encouragement, we sat down and wrote out the CFP together and submitted the abstract. No regrets if you don't try, right! Thanks Mike.
This week we learnt that our CFP submission to BHUSA 2017 was accepted. As someone who has been in this industry since my mid-20's, this has been such an exciting and exhilarating week. I writing this not because I want you to come watch me present, which would be totally awesome by the way if you did, but because it's important as people we should never stop believing in ourselves and our ideas. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I sincerely feel honoured and blessed to not only attend BHUSA this year but be invited to speak and present my research. I will be putting my best foot forward to give back to an industry that I love, continue to work with pride and passion with the aim to help other security professionals who want to listen.
See you at BHUSA 2017!
